Over 50 Ukrainian rescuers and 19 pieces of equipment have been sent to Slovenia to assist the neighboring country in dealing with the aftermath of a significant flood.
This assistance was authorized by a decree signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukrainian rescuers are known for their readiness to help in times of disaster, as they understand the devastating effects of high water levels. Ukraine has experienced a major environmental catastrophe in recent years, particularly after the explosion of the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Plant (GES) by Russian occupiers. Ukrainian rescuers, who were involved in addressing the flooding in the Kherson region, will now provide support to European countries. They will use specialized equipment and machinery in their efforts.
European countries such as Austria and Slovenia have been affected by heavy rainfall since August 3, leading to floods, landslides, and dam breaches. At least four fatalities have been reported, and several cities have been left without power. Bridges have collapsed, and sections of highways and rural roads are underwater. The estimated damages caused by the flooding in Slovenia exceed half a billion euros.
Earlier, we reported that over 200 people from the Poltava region had provided assistance to the Kherson region in dealing with the consequences of flooding.
