Athletes from Vinnytsia region took second place at the European Field Hockey Championships

Athletes from Vinnytsia region secured the second place at the European Field Hockey Championship. This was announced by the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Borzov, on his Facebook page.

The competition took place from August 23 to 29 in the capital of Ireland, Dublin.

In the Group "B" category among national men's teams, teams from Ireland, Scotland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, and Ukraine participated.

The Ukrainian national team consisted exclusively of hockey players from Vinnytsia. They managed to defeat representatives from Portugal, Czech Republic, and Italy. The athletes were only defeated by the hosts of the field, the representatives of the Irish national team.

Now the Ukrainian national team has earned the right to compete in Group "A" and the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games this year.

It's worth noting that athletes from Dnipropetrovsk region won five medals at the 17th Summer European Olympic Festival held in Maribor, Slovenia. A gymnast from Dnipropetrovsk region, Ivana Rudyi, secured silver and bronze medals. The same achievement was obtained in swimming by Mykola Kotenko. Daria Dolya became a bronze medalist in judo as a part of the Ukrainian team.
