Poltava athlete Vitaliy Shovkoplyas has successfully set a world record in the category of "Most One-Arm Pull-Ups in 1 Minute". On his second attempt, the athlete managed to perform 25 one-arm pull-ups in one minute, beating the previous record set by Chinese athlete Li Zhechuan, who performed 24 pull-ups in the same time.
Strict adherence to the execution technique was the primary requirement for setting the record. The exercise is considered one of the most challenging strength exercises, with a high risk of injury if the technique is not followed correctly, according to the National Records Register of Ukraine.
The record attempt took place on the banks of the Kolomak River in the village of Kovalivka, part of the Poltava Municipality.
Vitaliy Shovkoplyas is a World Cup winner in calisthenics, a master of the sport at international level and the absolute world champion in street lifting. His coach is Olena Pryvalova.
This is not the first record for Vitaliy. Last year he broke the Guinness World Record by performing 273 one-armed pull-ups in one hour. This was not just a one-point difference, but a significant victory, as Vitaliy beat the previous record holder from Italy by 53 pull-ups.
The people of Poltava had the opportunity to witness the event via a live broadcast, which was also recorded for the record book. Everyone who watched the live broadcast was encouraged to donate to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
