Criminal proceedings opened in Dnipro over attempted murder of patrol policemen after fight with fatal injury to man

A criminal investigation has been opened in Dnipro regarding an attack on patrol police officers. This information was reported by the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The case was initiated after an altercation occurred between a man and two patrol officers on August 29. Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations by the investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

For an attack on the life of a police officer, the punishment prescribed is from nine to fifteen years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

To recap, on August 29, law enforcement officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Following this, a seemingly intoxicated man attacked a female patrol officer. Another patrol officer fired three shots into the man's back, resulting in his death at the scene.

In response to the incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including Minister Igor Klymenko, emphasized the need to analyze such situations calmly and allow emotions to settle. They also stated that this is a serious case and that law enforcement efforts are helping stabilize public sentiment during a state of war. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
