Two athletes from the Poltava region brought "gold" to the Ukrainian national team during their performance at an international freestyle wrestling tournament held in the Italian city of Sassari. Andriy Yatsenko won gold in the 57-kilogram category, while Mykita Morgun claimed the top spot in the 74-kilogram category. This success contributed to Ukraine's male national team winning six gold medals, four silvers, and two bronzes at the tournament and securing the first place in the team standings.
Earlier, discussions on the development of future Olympic champions took place in the Vinnytsia region. During a meeting, attended by the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Borzov, changes to the sports competition schedule in the region were discussed. Additionally, a series of Olympic events are planned in the Vinnytsia region, organized by the regional branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
In a separate event, Ukrainian gymnast Ilya Kovtun from the Cherkasy region delivered a successful performance at the FIG World Challenge Cup held in Croatia. The 19-year-old Ukrainian athlete emerged victorious in the parallel bars competition on the first day of the finals held in Osijek. Kovtun and his coach, Irina Nadiuk, were congratulated on their victory by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
