In Odessa, law enforcement officers exposed the head of one of the customs clearance units who worked at a customs post in the Odessa region. It is known that he demanded and received $6,500 USD to expedite the clearance of imported goods. The investigation revealed that the received bribe of $6,500 was in exchange for the promise to expedite the passage of cargo through the customs post. The bribe-taker was apprehended during the transfer of the second part of the money. Questions regarding his suspension from his position are currently under consideration, and pretrial detention measures will be decided in court. The pretrial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.
This case comes after a recent conviction in the Cherkasy region, where a doctor was sentenced to 15 years in prison for providing information to the enemy regarding the location of Ukrainian air defense systems.
Additionally, in Odessa, a woman was sentenced to 11 years in prison for collecting funds for the needs of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, a terrorist organization. She collected money for members of this group and posted the fundraising information on social media networks, including VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, which are banned in Ukraine.
