The four hundred and ninety-eighth day of Russia's large-scale armed aggression against our country is ongoing. Let's briefly summarize the events of the day that is passing.
Today, during the night, the Russian Federation launched missile strikes against Ukraine, using 10 Kalibr cruise missiles. Ukrainian air defense units, aviation, and the Air Force managed to destroy 7 of these missiles. Unfortunately, 3 missiles hit the city of Lviv.
Due to the Russian terrorist attacks on Lviv, there have been 5 casualties among civilians and over 35 people have sustained injuries of varying severity. More than 35 buildings, over 250 apartments, 10 dormitories, a children's home, two higher educational institutions, and other civilian infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed.
Additionally, the enemy conducted 41 aerial strikes and 42 shelling attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and residential areas. The Russian army shelled peaceful communities in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.
Unfortunately, Dnipropetrovsk was not spared either. On the night of July 5th to 6th, the aggressor attacked Nikopol three times using heavy artillery, targeting both Nikopol and Chervonohryhorivka community.
Thankfully, there have been no casualties. However, a private house, two outbuildings, and an electrical transmission line were damaged.
In the region, the defenders from the Air Command "East" managed to shoot down an enemy drone.
Over the weekend, the Cherkasy Emergency Medical Center took part in evacuating children with special needs from Zaporizhia region who were in serious condition and required medical assistance.
Today, another prisoner exchange took place. Ukraine successfully liberated 43 servicemen and 2 civilians from enemy captivity. Moreover, two illegally taken children were returned to Ukraine. Among the freed defenders, there were 28 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers (including 10 territorial defense fighters), 4 border guards, 10 National Guard members, and 1 naval serviceman. They defended Ukraine in Mariupol, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, and Kherson directions. Among the released defenders, two were previously considered missing in action.
At today's session of the 8th convocation of the Poltava City Council, the deputies supported the proposal to posthumously award the "Honorary Citizen of the Poltava City Territorial Community" to City Council Deputy Yulian Matviychuk.
A photo exhibition titled "LGBTIQ+ in Defense of Ukraine" took place in Poltava. The initiative for organizing this exhibition belongs to the Ukrainian LGBT community in America. Poltava became the third city, after Washington and Kyiv, where these photos were exhibited. Next, the exhibition will be displayed in Odesa, Berlin, and New York.
