It is the five hundred twenty-fifth day of the large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against our country. We will briefly outline the main events of the day that has passed.

During the day, the Russian Federation conducted another aerial strike using Iranian UAVs of the "Shahed" type on Ukraine. With the efforts and resources of the Air Force, in cooperation with the anti-aircraft defense and other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, 23 "Shahed" UAVs were destroyed.

The enemy launched 5 missile strikes, 86 aerial attacks, and carried out 36 artillery shelling on the positions of our troops and civilian settlements. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties.

The likelihood of further missile and aerial strikes across Ukraine remains very high.

During the day, there were 33 combat engagements.

Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. They are consolidating their positions that have been reached. The enemy has suffered significant losses in personnel, equipment, and machinery. However, the enemy continues to offer strong resistance, making troop movements and deploying reserves.

On the Bahmut direction, our troops continue their offensive actions south of the city of Bahmut. During these operations, the enemy was forced to withdraw from positions south of Andriivka. The occupiers unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost ground north and west of Klishchivka, as well as northwestern Kurdiumivka. Heavy fighting continues.

During the night of August 2, 2023, Russian occupation forces launched Iranian strike UAVs of the "Shahed" type against Ukraine. Launches were made from three directions - Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF) and Chauda (temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea).

Ukraine's anti-air defense forces destroyed 23 strike UAVs.

Most of the "Shahed" UAVs were shot down in Kyiv and Odesa regions. Unfortunately, some of the drones launched by the enemy caused damage to the port infrastructure in Odesa region.

Alexander Vilkul, the Chairman of the Defense Council of Kryvyi Rih, provided an update on the health of those injured as a result of the rocket attack on Kryvyi Rih on July 31. According to him, out of the 82 injured individuals initially hospitalized in the city, 11 are still in the hospital, with their condition being of moderate severity.

Just a couple of days ago, three were in critical condition and one in extremely critical condition, so medical professionals were able to save their lives. "A total of 29 multi-story buildings and 79 private houses were affected. At present, all large debris from the destroyed buildings has been removed. Only concrete has been dismantled and removed, totaling 280 tons. Municipal enterprises and management companies have completed the first-stage work on sealing windows in residential buildings. Residents of affected buildings received necessary construction materials from the city's material reserve. Approximately 1,800 units of various building materials have already been issued in three days," Vilkul said.

Prices for wheat on the Chicago Exchange jumped by 6.5% following Russia's attack on the port of Izmail on the night of August 2. This information was reported by Mykola Lukashuk, the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council. "The night attack by the Russians on the port infrastructure, which damaged 40,000 tons of grain, led to a 6.5% increase in wheat prices on the Chicago Exchange. And this could be just the beginning, with panic and a global increase in food prices by 20-30%. Such processes are a consequence of the occupiers' attempts to block Ukrainian grain by any means. They aim to create a global threat by blocking grain exports from Ukrainian ports. Russia is trying to use potential hunger as a weapon. Terrorism and blackmail tactics have long been a 'calling card' of the occupiers. Their goal is to pressure world leaders to sit down at the negotiating table. Apparently, for Russian inhuman beings, this is normal," emphasized the official.

Thanks to the evidence collected by the Security Service of Ukraine, another member of the Russian military intelligence agency's espionage apparatus has been sentenced to a real prison term. This information was reported by the SSU press service.

The perpetrator was part of the informant network of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (commonly known as the GRU), which the SBU neutralized earlier this year as a result of a special operation in Dnipro. At that time, his accomplices were also detained. They collected intelligence on the locations and movements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces within the region. They also provided the aggressor with information about the locations of civilian infrastructure and vital facilities, including energy-generating enterprises in the region.

During the night, the enemy targeted Nikopol three times with heavy artillery fire, including attacks from multiple rocket launchers. This terrorist activity terrorized the Nikopol and Pokrovske communities.

According to the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, during the day, the enemy once again directed heavy artillery fire towards Nikopol, striking it three times throughout the day. The attacks targeted Nikopol and the Marganets community. Two private houses were damaged in the district center. Power transmission lines were damaged. One of the facilities and a moped belonging to a local resident were also affected. The enemy caused destruction to a house and an outbuilding in the occupied territories as well. Fortunately, there were no casualties among the population.
