From August 19 to August 26, 2023, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 2nd World School Summer Games ("World Summer Gymnasiade U-15") took place. A representative from Ukraine, Anastasiia Sterpu, a student from the Novoukrainske Lyceum "Leader," participated in the event and became the world champion in boxing in the 57-kilogram weight category. Previously, we reported about Andrii Lukaniuk from Kropyvnytskyi, who became the national champion in beach volleyball.
We also wrote about swimmers from Kropyvnytskyi who became world champions. On the third day of the competition, swimmers from Kropyvnytskyi added new medals to their collection. Irina Tereshchenko won a gold medal and the title of world champion in the individual 100m breaststroke. In the 4x100m medley relay, Irina Tereshchenko and Daria Tarasenko, as part of the Ukrainian team, also secured gold medals.
Representatives from the Kirovohrad region also won 33 medals at the canoeing and kayaking championship.
Earlier, it was reported that the Kirovohrad region would participate in the restoration of a liberated village in the Kherson region as part of the "Shoulder to Shoulder" project aimed at restoring the liberated territories of Kherson region. Kirovohrad will be responsible for providing support to the village of Mala Oleksandrivka in Kherson region.
