The five hundred and fortieth day of large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against our state is ongoing. We briefly outline the main events of the day that has passed.

During the past day, the enemy launched 8 missile strikes and 82 airstrikes, conducting 76 artillery shelling attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population, including children, due to Russian terrorist attacks. Port infrastructure in Odesa has been damaged, as well as residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions.

According to updated information, successful anti-aircraft defense efforts resulted in the destruction of 2 cruise missiles Kh-35/Kh-59 and 16 enemy UAVs "Shahed-136/131" during the past day.

In the morning, the enemy launched a rocket attack, particularly in the Novomoskovsk district, but it did not affect local residents. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 10,000 people in two populated areas were left without electricity. Specialists have already resolved the issue, and households have regained power. Other consequences of the attack are currently being clarified.

In compliance with the "Law on Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of Russian Imperial Politics in Ukraine and Decolonization of Toponymy," a monument glorifying Alexander Pushkin, a Russian figure, was dismantled in Lubny. According to Margarita Komarova, the secretary of the Lubny City Council, the removal was carried out by communal services of the community to fulfill the collective decision of the thirtieth session of the eighth convocation of the Lubny City Council regarding the "Organizational and Legal Measures for the Removal/Relocation of the Monument to Russian Alexander Pushkin from the public space of Lubny."

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) conducted a special operation in the Kyiv region, resulting in the detention of another Russian agent-correctionist. The perpetrator worked for money with the main department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (known as GRU). Upon the aggressor's instructions, he established the geolocation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' units within the capital region. The repair bases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where Ukrainian equipment receives maintenance and repair, were of particular interest to the enemy. Additionally, the perpetrator provided occupiers with information about power substations in Kyiv. The enemy's special service hoped that during the reconnaissance activities, their informant could identify the locations of Ukrainian air defense systems near the energy facilities.

For two consecutive days, the Forum of Local Internally Displaced Persons from Eastern Ukrainian Regions "Changing Ukraine!" has been taking place in Poltava. Representatives from Luhansk, Poltava, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, with the support of the UNHCR, are sharing their experiences on the integration of internally displaced persons (IDPs) into new places of residence. This was reported by the Poltava Regional State Administration.

Serhiy Zhuk, a resident of Vinnytsia, was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the Third Degree. This was reported by Serhiy Borzov, the Head of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration.

The 26-year-old serviceman received the state award from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, personally during his working trip to the Donetsk region.

Blogger and deputy of the Poltava City Council, Andriy Karpov, is trying to regain the position of the Secretary of the Poltava City Council through court. He filed a respective lawsuit today, on August 17, in court. Karpov wrote about it on his Facebook page. "I demand the annulment of the illegal decisions of the Poltava City Council to remove me from the position of the Secretary of the City Council and to appoint Kateryna Yamshchykova," Karpov stated. Recall that the Secretary of the Poltava City Council became the acting mayor after Oleksandr Mamai received a court verdict in the case of housewives who cleaned his home and received salaries from the city budget. This happened on March 2nd.
