July 8. Results of the day

It has been 500 days of large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against our country. Let's briefly summarize the events of the past day:

During the day, Russian occupiers launched another missile and air strike on Ukraine, using guided anti-aircraft missiles from the S-300 air defense system and Iranian attack UAVs "Shahed." As a result of the Ukrainian defense forces' actions, 5 "Shahed" attack UAVs were destroyed, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Some of the attack UAVs hit industrial and infrastructure facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.

The enemy conducted 34 airstrikes and 42 artillery bombardments. An artillery shelling in the town of Lyman by Russian military forces resulted in the deaths of 8 civilians and injuries to 13 others.

Severe thunderstorms and rain caused damage in various regions of Ukraine. The storm that raged in Odessa on July 7th led to damage to a bridge and power outages in dozens of populated areas.

For the third consecutive day, severe weather conditions in the Kirovohrad region led to power line disruptions. As of 11:00, 10,566 subscribers were without electricity.

The Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service detained a former member of the terrorist organization "DNR" in Vinnytsia. The individual, originally from Donetsk, had joined the "reconnaissance unit" of the "Vostok" group controlled by the 1st Army Corps of the Russian Armed Forces in 2014.

A night-time intercity bus overturned in Cherkasy. The bus was en route from Khmelnytsky to Kremenchuk, with 41 passengers on board. One driver and 22 passengers were taken to the hospital.

An Odessa businessman attempted to bribe the Security Service of Ukraine with 90,000 euros to halt their investigation and not seize his property within the scope of a criminal case.

Archaeological research is ongoing in the territory of the Dominican Monastery complex (now the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine) in Vinnytsia.

In Vinnytsia, police officers and correctional facility operatives thwarted the activities of a criminal group of prisoners who had deceived dozens of people across Ukraine by posing as bank employees.

The city council of Yuzhne announced the start of the process to rename the city. This decision is in line with the Law of Ukraine "On Condemning and Prohibiting the Propaganda of Russian Imperial Politics in Ukraine and Decolonizing Toponymy."

Finally, the best news of the day - the commanders of the "Azov" regiment, who defended Mariupol from Russian invaders and the "Azovstal" plant, have returned to Ukraine from Turkey.
